Matchstick Movie tour went off last weekend.

Gothic TheaterGothic TheaterThursday morning the crew loaded up the Subaru Tribeca B9 in Crested Butte and headed for the Front Range. 4 hours later, and maybe a ½ case of Red Bull we rolled into the Gothic Theater, Denver for setup…By the time the doors opened a line had already formed around the Subaru’s parked in front of the venue. As the doors opened the crowds were introduced to Simon Dumont and Rory Bushfield signing autographs. The show was to start at 8 and as of 8:15 we still had a line outside…The show finally kicked off and the standing room only fans were some of the loudest we have heard. Simon and Rory were treated to some loud ovations during their segments, and Mike Wilson’s seggy brought the house down.

The Denver show set the bar high for the next night in Boulder. With 2 shows on a Friday night in Boulder you knew we were in for a rowdy crowd. The Boulder Freeride team was selling tickets like crazy. The venue quickly filled for the 7 o’clock show, the crowd went crazy and then we had to coral them out for the 9 o’clock showing. As the booze/ski thirsty crowd rolled in you could tell this crowd was gonna get crazy. Before the show even started, Simon was asked by one girl to father her children, and the Freeskier boyz were filming and taking pics all over the place. The antics ensued with Rory and Simon back flipping off everything inside and outside the venue. After the show was over the party moved up Pearl Street to Bacaro. Needless to say the party wasn’t over yet. Upstairs was packed and drinks were flowing. Big ups to Dave from Freeskier fir getting the crowd amped there with his bar top antics. The night ended with everyone safe in his or her hotel rooms, and thankfully Riley and Simon were not in jail, and I am pretty sure Dumont wasn’t even mad…

At the same time the shenanigans in Boulder were going off, another sold out show was raging in Seattle at Fremont Studios. Ingrid Backstrom and Sammy Carlson greeted guests coming into the show, signing posters and shaking hands. The Seattle crowds were rowdy and cheering the whole time. After the Fremont show the crowd walked up the street to Evo Sport for the free Sweatshop Union show inside the shop. Thanks to Bryce and the crew for the show. Two cities at the same time going nuts for PUSH…..

Saturday morning came quick and after breakfast it was time to head home to Crested Butte. Needless to say by this time everyone was a little tired, Simon and Rory were on planes home and we had to head home to give the fans in Crested Butte 2 shows to get amped for the season. With both shows being sold out by 6:00, we knew it was going to be another one of those nights. The shows went off and then everyone was moved out of the theater and down Elk Ave to the LoBar. An infamous Red Bull party ensued and Kyleena and Jeff threw us one hell of a party. I don’t think we could have asked for a better ending that weekend then being able to party hard in Crested Butte and find our ways home into our own beds.

Matchstick wants to thank each and every one of our fans and sponsors for coming to the premieres and hanging out with us. It was a great weekend and we are looking forward to many more. To check out when PUSH is coming to your town head over to www.skimovie.com and check out the tour page.
